Katie Huffling, RN, CNM is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and is an environmental health program coordinator at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. In my current position I am coordinating the efforts of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments. I am also part of the development team for EnviRN.org. I am interested in integrating electronic media such as videos, podcasts, and smart phone applications into this web resource to enhance the delivery of environmental health information and tools to nurses.

As a nurse-midwife I am concerned with how environmental exposures can impact reproductive health. I have authored of a number of peer-reviewed articles on environmental health issues as they relate to pregnancy. I have also created an assessment tool that can be used by nurses and other clinicians to assess for environmental exposures of pregnant women and prompts the clinician to provide anticipatory guidance.
